Scientific Outing 2025 in Zeist

This years scientific outing happend in Zeist. First on the agenda, getting together and getting up to speed what ideas and project everyone is working on. It was great to hear that there is significant overlap between our groups interests and directions.

After a nice lunch we finished off the day with a group discussion on what the future multiscale networked systems will look like. Many interesting directions for future development and what principles these systems should serve. Human centric digital twins to improve and find solutions for our world, agentic systems for aiding building and configuring better networks and systems. The echos of the future could be heared by all and we hoped to find a ways to make them resonate here in the present.

Then a short bike ride around the town through the surrounding woods to make room for silence.

The next day we continued our discussions with a session on research output in the context of PhD projects. Thesis defences and how prominent figures are able to help with networking and help motivate students as rolemodels.

Personally, I enjoyed the outing alot. This shared experience brought everyone together by challenging conventional ideas and carefully listening to eachothers opinions for solutions and I feel it has set the tone for our regular discussions in the group meetings.
